Joy has been a PT for over 17 years. She has worked at The Pilates and Physical Therapy Center of Seattle for over 12 years, and at the University of Washington Sports Medicine Clinic at Husky Stadium for over 17 years. Her interest in PT began in High School when she realized she wanted to help people recover from injuries, athletic or otherwise. Her athletic career started with tree climbing, progressed to multiple high school sports, then followed by Division I soccer. Her adult athletic endeavors have included triathlon training, yoga, Pilates, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, snowboarding, running, and hiking. She uses these experiences to help those who struggle with movement, as well as athletes of all types. In addition to Joy’s love of all things kinetic, she has a desire to be constantly learning and growing as a Physical Therapist. She has completed a Residency and Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy through the Ola Grimsby institute as well as completing the Romana’s Pilates® instructor certification. She is currently working on receiving her certification in functional manual therapy. Her movement and manual therapy approach is strengthened by her ability to empower and to educate people. Joy’s favorite quote from a patient has been, “You have magic hands and tribal instincts.” She works with injuries of all types.
